Marinara Sauce (crock pot)

a large batch homemade recipe for the crock pot that tastes better than the stuff from the jar

Ingredients

  • 10 lbs crushed tomatoes (canned)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped (white or yellow)
  • 1 c. fresh basil, roughly chopped or 1 T. dried basil or italian seasoning
  • 6-8 garlic cloves, pressed
  • 1-2 t. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 t. sea salt
  • 1/2 t. black pepper

Directions

  1. Simmer all ingredients in a crock pot on high for 6 hours or 8 hours on low. Cool 2hours and refrigerate. Bag and freeze when cool. Thaw 24 hours ahead of time.
